Groundbreaking medical treatment case heard in Court of Protection

Vikram Sachdeva and Victoria Butler-Cole are acting for the mother of a patient who is seeking a declaration that it is in her daughter's best interests to have artificial nutrition and hydration withdrawn so that she can die with dignity. Unlike in the Tony Bland case, in which the patient was in a Vegetative State, the daughter is a minimally conscious state, which is the next state above. Judgment is awaited.
