Vikram Sachdeva acts in first Mental Health Review Tribunal to be held in public

Albert Haines, a 52 year old patient at Broadmoor Hospital, was the first person to have his appeal against detention heard in public, in a reflection of the courts' greater emphasis on transparency even in otherwise confidential proceedings. The case has received widespread publicity, and a decision is expected this week.
